Beyond the Green Gate
Stuart’s first book, Beyond the Green Gate was first published in 2013 and soon gained cult status within the carp literature world. An honest, captivating and humourous account of some of the Colne Valley’s finest lakes, Beyond the Green Gate covers a number of lakes that had not been seen in print before.
Before work started on HS2, Stuart captured his time fishing a number of lakes behind the famous green gate, just off the Moorhall Road in Harefield. As well as Pits 2, 3, 4 and the Golf Course Lake, Stuart also covered his time fishing Savay ‘On the Days’, which culminated with one of Savay’s most sought-after fish, caught a couple of yards from the bank on a Dick Walker Mk IV cane rod and a centrepin reel.
